The attention of Osun state government has been drawn to increase in the number people suffering insanity wandering the streets of Osogbo the Osun state capital, the development which has been attributed to ‘dumping’ by some unidentified people.

Osun Mail was reliably informed that the conspicuous increase could not have been unconnected with the activities of some people believed to be officials of some neighbouring states, who were said to be bringing these people in to Osun state capital.

Some inhabitants of Osogbo in a chat with Osun Mail said several times these people who would not be seen around during the day but would suddenly appear in the morning which further confirmed the allegation of dumping by some people.

A resident of Ayetoro area of the town informed Osun Mail that the two new occupants of the front of the Military Cemetery located in the area both of whom are female were surely dumped by some people whose identities he could not confirmed.

The man whose house is located directly opposite the cemetery said those that dumped them came in the night because the two women were not at the spot earlier the previous day. He said it might not be out of place to trace the influx to the neighbouring states.

Another inhabitant of the state capital who resides in station road area of the city stated that many of these mad people wandering the city are being brought from other towns outside Osun state. He shared the experience he had when returning from vigil few weeks ago when some people who were trying to dump a mad woman had it rough as she insisted on not coming down from the vehicle that conveyed them to the spot.

The vehicle according to him was in official color of a neighbouring state. He called on the state government in collaboration with security agents and local watch men in the state capital to ensure that the state is not used as dumping ground, while efforts should also be made by the relevant government agency to mop the city of these people.
